A FILIPINO-Australian stormed through some of Australia’s best bodybuilders to top the NSW International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) natural physique championships at Castle Hill RSL Club on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
Twenty-year-old PJ Lee, of Coogee, not only won the Junior Men’s and the Open Men Class 1 (under 170cm) trophies but also swept past a field of more seasoned competition to take the Men’s Overall (Sword) title.
PJ, who’s built like a mini-tank, was the youngest and smallest challenger at the championships. On stage, his impressively muscled and well-chiselled frame stood out spectacularly against his bigger rivals.
Next Sunday, October 7, he goes to Melbourne for the Victorian INBA championships, and the following Sunday, October 14, to Marconi Club in Sydney’s southwest for the Australiasia Natural Bodybuilding titles.
The young bodybuilder had followed in the footsteps of older brother Mike, now turned trainer and once a 2010 Junior Category (under 22 years) NSW regional champion.
‘’Mike has been PJ’s mentor, trainers and inspiration,’’ says his father Pablo Lee, who had never taken to bodybuilding. “The brothers both share a passion for the sport of bodybuilding.
”Their mother, Evelyn, is an avid follower of PJ’s development in competition. She never wants to miss an opportunity to watch PJ compete.”
JP works as a customer service representative-for Coca-Cola Amatil. He is sponsored as a bodybuilder by Gen-tec Nutrition, a company owned by former bodybuilding strongman Nick Jones, whose many achievements in bodybuilding include Mr World, Mr Australasia and Mr Australia titles and Mr Universe runner-up.
