BUDDY Zabat won the 19th Susan’s Cup at Woodville Golf Course on Saturday, July 6, with a net 68 played under the System 36, bagging a cash prize of $400, the winner’s trophy, and the privilege of having his name engraved on the ”perpetual trophy” as the 2013 overall champion.

Division winners and their gross and net scores were: Kelepi Poulivaati (84/71) for division A, Noel Manansala (92/72) for division B and Aris Ortanez (104/72) for division C. They received $150 each.
Division first runners-up were Carlos Gabila (86/71) for A division, Eric Joson (93/72) for B division and Nep Palomo (98/73) for C division. They received $75 each. Division second runners-up were Edd Tenorio (85/71) for division A, Richard Dadat (93/72) for division B and Elmer Arreza (100/74) for division C. They received $50 each.
This Filipino-Australian golf tournament, sponsored by Philippine Airlines, Travelcare and Premier Air Services, is held annually on the first Saturday of July to coincide with Susan’s birthday.
“Although it was a freezing early winter morning, we expected to have a beautiful day later” said Mike Garcia, husband of the late Susan Garcia, after whom the tournament is held.
This year’s tournament was organised by the Divotees Social Golf Club and it attracted 80 golfers from various social golf clubs from the Filipino-Australian golfing community and their friends, including five lady golfers.
Winner of the ladies’ section was Prescilla Keogh with a gross 96 score and net 73.
Almost all winners were determined via count back, the effect of System 36 scoring method used at this golf tournament.
Nearest the pins on all five par 3s were received a cash prize of $25 each: Hole no 2, Jun Mejia; hole no 5 Carlos Perez; hole no 7 Philip Punla; hole no 11 Rey Garcia and hole no 15 Tim Kelly.
There was no winner for the eagle’s nest.
