A DRAW would have satisfied top-of-the-ladder North Sydney United, tied 2-2 in the closing stages of the soccer football game against Hornsby Heights on Sunday, July 22. But not pinoz Tim Calvert.
From his position in midfield, Calvert burst through the Hornsby defenders on the right wing and fired a sizzler past the goalkeeper and into the net for the winning goal.
It was Calvert’s first goal of the season for United, and the team came away with 3-2.
Calvert has helped spearhead North Sydney United to the top in the men’s all-age first – reserve division of the Northern Suburbs Football Association competition.
He had played for Normanhurst Eagles in the Hornsby Kurringgai Football Clubs Association competition for 10 years before switching to North Sydney United after having chaned his place of residence.
Tim Calvert, 31, began playing football at six years of age. His first club was the Thornleigh West Thunder playing until we was 15. He moved to the Normanhurst Eagles because there had been no team in Thornleigh West for players in his age group.
Over the years, Calvert has played in the striker and midfield positions.
He brings speed and endurance to his game.
