WOODCROFT’S Carlos Perez scraped past the field at the 10th Mickey’s Cup golf open tournament at Woodville Golf Course on Sunday, September 8.

Perez shot a net 66 points from his handicap of 16 under the modified stroke format sanctioned by Sydney Jokers Social golf club.
“It was a surprise to me, because I started my game with a triple bogey on the first hole, although this was followed immediately by several holes with par” he said.
Perez won a trophy and a cash prize of $200 donated by Albert Dionisio.
First Runner up was Art Bandian with a net score of 67 using his handicap of 12 and winning on a count-back ahead of Jun Gonzales. He received $100 donated by Ralph Posadas and Mickey Cabillo plus trophy.
Third runner up was Jun Gonzales with a score of 67 on a count-back.
Nearest the pin winners were Jack Lee (hole 2), Kit Sta Barbara (holes 5 & 7) and Ferdi Francisco (hole 11).
The event was followed by sumptuous barbecue lunch courtesy of Mickey Cabillo. This was supplemented by a delicious pancit palabok courtesy of Ferdi Francisco. The drinks were provided by Jokers Social Golf Club, through Ralph Posadas.
The Mickey’s cup, now on its 10th year, also celebrated Cabillo’s birthday on August 30. It was coordinated by Sydney Jokers golf club headed by Ralph Posadas as its current president.

The Global Eagle Golf Classic was held at the New Brighton Golf Course, also on September 8. This was organised by Manny Castillo of the Philippine Australian Sports and Culture.
Neil Narvais, of Pogi Golf Club, was over-all champion. Division champions were: Hernan Rocuant (Div I) and Shanjy Lee (Div II). Division runners-up were Ross Sandoval (Div I) and Manny Ventura (Div II).
Ladies Division winner was Vangie Leones, runner-up was Laura Marquinez as runner up. Winners received cash prizes and trophies at a presentation and dinner at Bankstown Trotting Club.
The next major golf tournament of the Filipino-Australian golfing community will be the 10th AICL Education Cup on Sunday, October 20, at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort. This is organised by Golf ParE Social Club headed by Dodee Leones and sponsored by IDP Philippines, AIH and AMRC.
Registration fee is $95 inclusive of green fee, shared cart, barbecue dinner and lots of freebies. Prizes include $200 cash and trophy for the over-all champion; $150 cash and trophy each for ABC division winners and $100 cash and trophy each for ABC division runners-up.
Novelty prizes are also at stake for 10 nearest the pin, drive and pitch or longest drive winners, and 10 golfers with the most number of pars.
