BASKETBALL NSW conducted a basketball camp for players aged 12 to 16 years in Blacktown as requested by the Filipino community’s Mark Quanco on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
Sixteen youth, all of them pinoz, took part in clinics held from 5pm to 9pm at the Emerton Leisure Centre, in the Blacktown suburb of Emerton
Chief organiser Ding de Villa, senior development manager (Asia Pacific) of Basketball NSW employed the services of two of among the best basketball trainers in NSW: former Sydney Kings point-guard and sportscaster Steve Carfino and NSW state coach Sam Gruggen.
“It was an excellent opportunity for our youth to learn basketball basics from two masters of the game,” de Villa said.
The clinic kicked off with basic ball-handling drills, dribbling, shooting, game tactics, and scrimmages.
