The mainstays of these two teams combined for team AgKhro that lost a nail-biter at the PCYC Marrickville competition to the defending champions Pampanga Best.
Players of both sides are best friends on and off the court.
But this relationship did not stop them from going-for-broke as tangled in the final of the GM Bankstown men’s title, both squads showcasing their talent and skill from the opening bell.
Bing Mantua, Lon Mantua, Christian Zarate, Michael Angeles, Mond Baduria and Craig Doolan started fast and got off streaking to lift the Khroliks squad to a 14 – 10 lead midway into the first half.
Not to be outdone, Aguman cagers JP de la Cruz, Vic Guinto, Chester Coronel, Olet Pineda, RJ Butacan, Reg Peña and peppery guard DJ Sison waxed hot to stay on the heels of the red shirted Khroliks crew, 12-17, as the first half hostilities ended.
Aguman coach Anthony Dungca berated his squad for lacklustre plays sparking fire in his wards’ hearts with Pineda, Herbert Paule, Guinto, JP DC and Sison responding with fast transition plays to take them closer, 32-34, midway in the second canto.
But it only motivated the defending champions to shift gear with Zarate, Mantua, Parsons and Angeles unleashing an onslaught to snuff the Aguman sparkle and bringing the curtains down, 50-43, to retain their GM Bankstown men’s title.
