PINOZ international handballer Bevan Calvert didn’t waste time, making an immediate impact at the start of the German 2014-2015 national handball season with his new club Mecklenburg Bulls.

Calvert ripped the nets seven times to help the German club blow Beckendorf out of the water, 33-23, in only his second game last month.
Earlier, in his first outing, the pinoz cannoned nine goals into the nets to sink VFL Fredenbeck: three from fast breaks, three from the wing, and three from seven-metre shots as the team’s top scorer.
Calvert had played for Denmark club TSV Altenholz for five seasons before moving to Germany and signing with the Bulls.
One of the highlights of the 2013-2014 European handball season for Calvert was scoring the winning goal in the last seconds of the game for TSV Altenholz to sneak past Tarp-Wanderup.
Mecklenburg president Friedrich Diestel was quoted on the club’s website as saying: “With Bevan Calvert we can commit our chosen player on the right wing.
“He is an absolute gain for our team; it is not just playing well in the Bulls team, but he also generates a lot of interest and admiration.
“He is ready to bring improved performance. Such types will play quickly in the hearts of fans. We look forward to a successful future.”
During his time at TSV Altenholz, Calvert represented Australia at the 2011 and 2013 International Handball Federation (IHF) World Championship held in Sweden and Spain respectively.
He had also represented Australia in the 2005, 2007 and 2009 IHF World Championships.
Calvert is now captain of Australia’s national handball team.
On his move to Mecklenburb, Calvert said: “After five years being an Altenholz Wolf, I’ve decided it’s time for something new.”
