ONLY golfing wannabes will take putting duties from serious golfers at the 2014 Grace/Media Golf Cup tournament at Hudson Park Golf course in Strathfield on Sunday, December 14.
Non-golfers will come from members of the Filipino Press Group of Sydney, who will partner regular golfers in an Individual Stroke format with the sole responsibility of putting on all of 18 greens.
“The putting strokes will be included in the total individual stroke,” said the Cup’s chief organizer Ric deVera. “Then any playing handicap will be deducted to determine the winner.”
Understandably, the wannabes may well determine scores at the end of the day, no matter how high or low the handicap of partnered golfers.
Entry fee for a regular golfer is $35, including cost of green fees and lunch. Seniors who hold a ‘Seniors Card’ pay $25, and non-golfing putting partners pay $10.
Major sponsor for the inaugural Cup last year was The Grace Hotel in Sydney, courtesy of general manager Phillip Pratley, who said The Grace was supporting the Cup again this year.
