The 3rd Media Cup, run by the Filipino Press Group of Sydney (Filpressyd), will be a Stroke (drive and/or pitch) format: The golfer’s drive and/or pitch plus the caddy’s putts to determine the tandem’s score.
It will be a golfer-and-caddy team playing, with only the caddy to putt on the green – a fun one-day golf tournament.
Registration at the golf course is at 7:30am, tee-off at 8am.
Stonecutters Ridge golfer Tony Vivero took home the Grace/Media Golf Cup last year with a nett 57 from a gross 82 strokes, off a handicap 25.
Bella Vista civil engineer Ferdinand Francisco scored a gross 76 strokes at Hudson Park’s par 60 golf course for a net 49 on a 27 handicap to win the inaugural Grace/Media Golf Cup on Sunday, December 15, 2013.
There were seven entries the first year, and 15 the following year. More than 20 golfers and as many caddies are expected to play this year.
The major sponsor Grace Hotel is again providing one night’s accommodation for two with breakfast to the winner, another to the winner’s caddy, and one night’s accommodation for the runner-up.
It will also introduce a seven-year perpetual trophy, back-dated to include the 2013 and 2014 winners.
Trophies will to the winner, the winner’s caddy, the runner-up, to the golfers with the longest drive, nearest the pins on four par-3 holes, best dressed.
Entry fees are $50 for golfers ($35 for seniors), and $25 for caddies. These include cost of on-course snacks plus a seat-in luncheon at Sizzlling Fillo. There will be a mini-raffle for prizes donated by Filpressyd members at the trophy presentations.
