SEVENTEEN-year-old Jayden ‘The Bullet’ Buan, of Blacktown NSW showcased his talent in winning the amateur lightweight division of the Elite category at last year’s King Of The Ring boxing tournament at the Hornsby Police Community Youth Club in May 2019.
Buan won both of his fights on points decision and improved his win-loss record to 26-3.
The Bullet said that while he was challenged by his opponents, each of whom had no less than 15 fights, he came to the tournament prepared and ready to display the results of the time he’d spent in the gym.
“My first opponent was a slick boxer and the second was a smart brawler, so I had both styles of fighting to handle,” he said.
“In the final, my opponent really picked his shots and made me fight on the back foot, but I was relaxed and felt that I controlled the ring better.”
But he confessed that the three-minute rounds tested his conditioning, as they required him to throw a larger volume of punches in all three rounds of each match.
“I feel like my biggest improvement was my composure.”
