BLACKTOWN City-based Homegrown Basketball Australia (HGBA) was designated the official partner of the National Basketball Training Centre (NBTC) Global Games in 2022.
HGBA started off as a small group of basketball players keen on the game, and enthusiasts playing social basketball on Saturday mornings.
Today, the organisation has grown into a basketball community sharing a passion for the sport led by directors Cromwell Alvarez, Karlo Basa, and Alfred Sayas.
“Homegrown Basketball endeavours to develop the sport and our presence in Australia,” Cromwell says.
“It offers to facilitate games for players of all skill levels, train and develop young players as well as offer an opportunity to play overseas.”
Homegrown holds weekly games and tournaments at the Kevin Betts Basketball Stadium in Mount Druitt NSW.
The NBTC Global Games is a qualifying tournament where the select teams of each country have the opportunity to participate in the NBTC national finals at the SM Mall of Asia arena, Philippines.
The NBTC is a program that scouts, develops, and hones the talent of the players, both in the Philippines and in different parts of the world.
