ABOUT

PinOzInPlay is a web newsmagazine, or webmag, that follows the exploits of Filipino-Australians and Filipinos participating in the field of sports in Australia. It seeks out their achievements and their failures, much of which would never otherwise find their way into the sports pages of Australia’s mainstream media.

The star formation of the Southern Cross on the left of the logo (pinozinplay) in the masthead represents the Australian character of the website, and the sun in the middle of the Southern Cross represents the site’s Filipino influence. The red-and-white image of a sikaran martial artist on the right of the logo represents an original Filipino sport that evolved in the 1500s.

Because the webmag is based in the Sydney metropolitan area of the Australian state of New South Wales, most of its coverage focuses on action here. But where sports stories from anywhere else in the world involve Filipino-Australians, PinOzInPlay is prepared to publish them for contributors.

PinOzInPlay is edited and maintained by Jaime Kelly Pimentel, a former journalist with Fairfax Media. The webmag has been designed and developed with the assistance of graphic and web artist Millie Marcial-Phillips based.

The editor reserves the right to edit all contributions to suit the webmag’s style, as well as the right to decline publication at the editor’s discretion. Story and picture contributions will be accepted subject to a condition that contributors will not seek remuneration. Bylines and credits for contributions will be published, as requested by contributors.

The opinions of bloggers in this webmag do not necessarily belong to the editor and publisher of PinOzInPlay.
